Freeze‐Thaw Engineered Dual Conductivity Polymeric Binder Stabilizes Large‐Volume‐Change Lithium–Ion Battery Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed an all‐aqueous freeze‐thaw strategy to create a dual‐conductive PVA/P3KBT binder for high volume‐change lithium–ion battery anodes. The resulting binder system strengthens the electrode structure, supports ion and electron transport, and accommodates repeated volume changes, reducing cracking and improving long‐term cycling ...

Engineered Nanotopography to Modulate Growth and Signaling of Neuronal Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the interaction between neurons and nanoscale topographies on engineered substrates. Neurons cultured on nanowires, nanopillars and nanoneedles exhibit enhanced neurite outgrowth, form more organized neuronal circuits, and display improved synaptic connectivity, compared to flat substrates.

Melanin's Role in Balancing Mechanical Strength and Reproductive Output in Environmentally Stressed Fungal Spores

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Melanin content directly controls fungal spore mechanical properties, with pigmented spores achieving rupture forces two orders of magnitude higher than hyaline spores. Environmental stress drives this quantity‐quality tradeoff; stressed species invest energy in melanin‐reinforced, mechanically superior thick‐walled, super‐hydrophobic spores, while ...

Spatially Regulated Silicon Clusters in Trimodal Composite Anodes for High‐Energy Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A trimodal anode architecture spatially regulates silicon clusters within confined interstitial environments formed by graphite and contorted hexabenzocoronene. This confinement suppresses silicon aggregation and localized stress while enabling efficient Li‐ion transport, achieving high‐capacity, stable lithium‐ion batteries.

Development of a new hydraulic electric index for rock typing in carbonate reservoirs

open access: yesScientific Reports
Rock typing techniques have relied on either electrical or hydraulic properties. The study introduces a novel approach for reservoir rock typing, the hydraulic-electric index (HEI), which combines the strengths of traditional electrical and hydraulic ...

Karren of Provence (France), Gréolières, Caussols, Tourrettes-sur-Loup and Luberon

open access: yesActa Carsologica
The rock relief of karst forms, either of surface forms or of caves which are forming on different carbonate rocks and under different conditions, is one of the most telling traces of their formation, along with the characteristic factors and development.

Ground‐State Charge‐Transfer Doping in Donor–Acceptor Semiconducting Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates controlled ground‐state charge‐transfer complex formation (GS‐CTC) and doping in a series of diketopyrrolopyrrole‐based donor–acceptor semiconducting polymers paired with a π‐conjugated penta‐t‐butylpentacyanopentabenzo[25]annulene “cyanostar” macrocycle. Complementary experimental techniques show how subtle molecular, electronic,

Variable secondary porosity modeling of carbonate rocks based on μ-CT images

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2019
As an essential carbonate reservoir parameter, porosity is closely related to rock properties. Digital rock physics (DRP) technology can help us to build forward models and find out the relationship between porosity and physical properties.
