Identification and Current Palaeobiological Understanding of “Keratosa”-Type Nonspicular Demosponge Fossils in Carbonates: With a New Example from the Lowermost Triassic, Armenia

open access: yesLife, 2022
Structures similar to fossilized nonspicular demosponges have been reported in carbonates throughout the Phanerozoic and recently in rocks dating back to 890 Ma ago.

Discriminating cool-water from warm-water carbonates and their diagenetic environments using element geochemistry: the Oligocene Tikorangi Formation (Taranaki Basin) and the dolomite effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Fields portrayed within bivariate element plots have been used to distinguish between carbonates formed in warm- (tropical) water and cool- (temperate) water depositional settings.

Carbon···Carbon Weak Interactions

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009
A theoretical study of the complexes formed by systems with electron-deficient and electron-excessive carbon atoms was carried out using DFT and ab initio methods up to the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ computational level. Stable complexes with interaction energies between -6.0 and -22.8 kJ mol(-1) were obtained that correspond to weak C...C interactions.

THE GEOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF MAJSTORSKA CESTA – A HISTORICAL ROAD ON VELEBIT MT. WITH A SPECIAL REVIEW OF JURASSIC CARBONATE ROCKS

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik, 2020
Majstorska Cesta is a historical road along Velebit Mt., NW of Sveti Rok, preserved in its original state since opening in 1832 and therefore added to the cultural heritage list of the Republic of Croatia in 2007.

Characterization and evaluation of ultra-deep fracture-pore tight sandstone reservoirs: A case study of Cretaceous Bashijiqike Formation in Kelasu tectonic zone in Kuqa foreland basin, Tarim, NW China

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2014
Taking the Cretaceous Basijiqike Formation sandstone reservoirs in the Kuqa foreland basin as an example, this paper studies the characterization and evaluation methods of fracture-pore (fracture-primary pore and fracture-dissolution pore) ultra-deep ...

Pliocene Te Aute limestones, New Zealand: Expanding concepts for cool-water shelf carbonates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Acceptance of a spectrum of warm- through cold-water shallow-marine carbonate facies has become of fundamental importance for correctly interpreting the origin and significance of all ancient platform limestones.

Dynamics of snap-off and pore-filling events during two-phase fluid flow in permeable media

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Understanding the pore-scale dynamics of two-phase fluid flow in permeable media is important in many processes such as water infiltration in soils, oil recovery, and geo-sequestration of CO2.

Sedimentary Iron Cycling and the Origin and Preservation of Magnetization in Platform Carbonate Muds, Andros Island, Bahamas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Carbonate muds deposited on continental shelves are abundant and well-preserved throughout the geologic record because shelf strata are difficult to subduct and peritidal carbonate units often form thick, rheologically strong units that resist ...

A carbon–carbon hybrid – immobilizing carbon nanodots onto carbon nanotubes

open access: yesChemical Science, 2015
The thrust of this work is to integrate small and uniformly sized carbon nanodots (CNDs) with single-walled carbon nanotubes of different diameters as electron acceptors and electron donors, respectively, and to test their synergetic interactions in terms of optoelectronic devices.
