Petrología sedimentaria. Notas de teoría. 7. Rocas Carbónaticas: Introducción. Físico-química de carbonatos: nociones básicas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
En este tema se hace una breve introducción sobre los procesos de formación de carbonatos y los minerales carbonáticos más abundantes. El tema se centra en el estudio de los principales parámetros físico-químicos (Tª, el pH, la pCO2, entre otros) que ...

Structured machine learning modeling to support conservation of deep‐sea benthic biodiversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Biodiversity monitoring programs need to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable predictions. To establish a predictive monitoring program for deep‐sea benthos of the Santos Basin, Brazil, we developed a two‐stage structured model that allowed comparison of biodiversity predictions obtained from environmental simulations (2M‐Sim).

A Dicopper(II)‐Based Carbonic Anhydrase Model—Quantum‐Chemical Evaluation of the Mechanistic Pathway

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 25, June 17, 2024.
Prochloron didemni, an obligate symbiont of ascidians produces large amounts of patellamides, known to form dinuclear copper(II) complexes, which are efficient carbonic anhydrases. However, at the pH in the ascidians, catalysis is shown to be product‐inhibited.

Petrología sedimentaria. Notas de teoría. 8. Rocas Carbónaticas: Carbonatos marinos y continentales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Este tema se dedica al estudio de las características de las calizas que se forman en distintos contextos sedimentarios. Se parte del análisis de los factores que controlan la sedimentación de carbonatos marinos, para después analizar los rasgos más ...

Heavy Metals in Soils: An Investigation of the Contaminated Floodplains Around the Sinu River, Colombia

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Heavy metal contamination in rivers mostly originates from anthropogenic sources such as industrial activities, mining, agriculture, and urban runoff. These metals accumulate in river sediments and impact living organisms and the surrounding ecosystem. Historically, some rivers in Colombia have faced issues related to heavy metal contamination,

Uranium and Neptunium Accumulation by the Byssus of Mytilus galloprovincialis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 1, January 1, 2026.
Investigation of uranyl(VI) and neptunyl(V) uptake in mussel's byssus by combining in vivo bioaccumulation with ex vivo isotherms. Data highlight the role of DOPA‐rich mfp proteins in binding both actinyl cations and partial Np(V) reduction. Such data link molecular interactions to radionuclide uptake in the framework of marine radioecology.

Carbon Dioxide as a Sustainable Reagent in Circular Hydrometallurgy

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 3, February 1, 2025.
Carbon dioxide is a useful reagent in hydrometallurgy and it can help to transform linear hydrometallurgical flowsheets into circular ones. Examples of applications of CO2 are pH control, the regeneration of acids used as lixiviants, or as a reagent for precipitation of metal carbonates. A new development is the solvent‐extraction‐assisted formation of
