Root trait dynamics of historical canola varieties under low and high nitrogen supply
Abstract Nitrogen fertilizer is a major input cost in crop production, making it crucial to enhance nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) to reduce fertilizer dependence without compromising yields. Root system architecture (RSA) is a key determinant of nutrient acquisition, particularly under nutrient‐limited conditions.

Preparation of Activated Carbons with The Minimum Possible Amount of Inorganic ash from Rice Hulls and Rice Straw.(Dept.P) [PDF]
The carbonization of dirt-free rice hulls and rice straw results in the production of ash which is mainly carbon and silica. The alkali treatment of this ash at 100°C removed some of the silica present. The amount of silica removed was dependent upon the carbonization temperature, the amount of caustic soda added and the duration of the alkali ...

Fish Scales: A Multifunctional Biomaterial from Nature
Fish scales demonstrate nature's solution to impact protection through overlapping multilayered architecture. This biological design combines mineralized surfaces with collagen networks to achieve both flexibility and fracture resistance. The structural principles inspire advanced protective materials and biomedical implants, where damage tolerance ...

Development and adoption of Kernza—A perennial grain crop for sustainable agriculture
Annual cereal grains account for ~50% of human food calories, but cultivation of these crops has resulted in major environmental and social issues worldwide. For nearly three decades, researchers have been breeding intermediate wheatgrass—a perennial cool‐season grass—to serve as the world's first commercial‐scale perennial grain crop to improve ...

ABSTRACT Biofloc technology (BFT) offers a sustainable aquaculture strategy; however, the value of its byproduct, biofloc meal (BFM), as a feed ingredient requires validation for key species. This study evaluated the use of BFM from a tilapia–molasses system as a feed ingredient for white cachama (Piaractus orinoquensis) juveniles.
