Uridine diphospho-D-glucuronate carboxy-lyase (UDP-D-xylose synthase; EC 4.1.1.35), which catalyzes the conversion of UDP-D-glucuronate to UDP-D-xylose, was purified to apparent homogenity from pea (Pisum sativum L.) seedlings. The pH optimum for enzyme activity was around 5-6, and the activity was not affected by exogeneously supplied NAD+ and NADH ...

Abstract 1. 1. It has been reported that hexachlorobenzene (HCB) in vivo produces hepatic porphyrinogen carboxy-lyase (PCL) decrease and pentachlorophenol (PCP) is one of its metabolites. In order to investigate if such decrease is due to an enzyme inhibitor present in the porphyric livers, the effects of the following additions on the normal rat

L-Arginine carboxy-lyase of higher plants and its relation to potassium nutrition
Phytochemistry, 1963Abstract On a fresh weight basis the mean agmatine content was found to be eight times as high, and the mean L -arginine carboxy-lyase (arginine decarboxylase) activity twice as high in leaves of potassium-deficient barley plants as in leaves of normal barley plants. A range of other plant species was also shown to accumulate agmatine and putrescine

Activity of L-cysteinesulfinate carboxy-lyase (CSC) and persulfurase was measured in livers of rats fed 15% casein diets supplemented with (1) 0.53% cysteine, (2) 0.40% cysteine, (3) 0.40% cysteine + 0.10% sulfate, (4) 0.42% sulfate, or (5) 0.42% sulfate + 0.40% cysteine. The diets were fed to adult rats for 1 week and to weanling rats for periods of 1

Abstract Partially purified sonic extract of Ampullariella digitata strain 399 converted UDPGlcUA or UDPGalUA to a mixture of UDPGalUA, UDPGlcUA, UDPXyl and UDPAra. However, the extract did not catalyze the reaction: UDPXyl ⇄ UDPAra. In the presence of unlabeled UDPXyl, UDP-[ 14 C]GlcUA yielded only UDP-[ 14 C]Xyl, and UDP-[ 14 C]GalUA yielded only

ACLY inhibition promotes tumour immunity and suppresses liver cancer
NatureImmunosuppressive tumour microenvironments are common in cancers such as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)-driven hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (MASH-HCC)1, 2–3.

Tetrapyrroles as substrates and inhibitors of porphyrinogen carboxy - lyase from rat liver.
Acta physiologica latino americana, 1978Porphyrinogen carboxy-lyase is an enzyme of the haem pathway which catalyses the stepwise decarboxylation of porphyrinogens with different number of carboxyl groups. This enzyme has a low substrate specificity since at least eighteen porphyrinogens were proved to be decarboxylated by the enzyme.

This study aimed to determine whether drug treatment produced structural changes in porphyrinogen carboxy-lyase enzymatic protein, leading to altered properties. Rat-liver enzyme was obtained from normal animals and from those with hexachlorobenzene (HCB)-induced porphyria, and several of its properties were comparatively studied. The enzymes from both

In order to examine inhibitory effects of hexachlorobenzene metabolites on the hepatic porphyrinogen carboxylyase activity, rat liver cytosol was incubated with uroporphyrinogen III and chlorinated phenols, thiophenols, thioanisoles and benzenes. Then, the occurrence of hepta-, hexa-, penta- and tetracarboxyporphyrinogen = coproporphyrinogen (measured ...
