Chem BiodiversWe prepared carboxymethylcellulose (CMC)‐date (Dt) hydrogel films using citric acid (CA) as a cross‐linking agent. These CMC‐Dt hydrogel films exhibited high swelling ability and good drug loading with regulated release of econazole (ECN). It also exhibited excellent topical anti‐inflammatory activity.
