Carburizing of Steel [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Materials Science and Applications, 2015
Paraffin wax (sulfur and phosphorous free)used as carburizer material for low carbon steels(Steel20, Steel3, and Steel 20x) instead of kerosene. Results show 1) Carburized layer by wax is more depth than in case of kerosene for all the three types of steel, e.g.

The Application of Hydrochar Composite Briquettes for Sustainable Slag Foaming in the Electric Arc Furnace Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Hydrochar‐mill‐scale briquettes with varying C/O molar ratios (0.07–0.90) have been tested at 1650 °C to evaluate their slag foaming performance for electric arc furnace application. All seven briquette recipes developed succeed in promoting slag foaming.

Sequential Reduction of Chromite Pellets Using Hydrogen and Silicon Carbide for Carbon Emission Abatement During Ferrochrome Production

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
H2 prereduction selectively metallizes Fe in UG2 chromite pellets at 1100°C, while silicon carbide becomes active at 1300°C to convert remaining Cr2O3 to carbides and promote Cr metallization. By separating the roles of H2 and SiC, the sequential route reaches up to 65.7% Cr metallization and suppresses in‐furnace CO generation by ≈75% versus ...

Current Knowledge on Phytoremediation Potential of Industrial Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) for PFAS and Heavy Metal Contaminated Soils

open access: yesRemediation Journal, Volume 36, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT This review synthesizes current research on the phytoremediation potential of industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) for heavy metals, including arsenic, aluminium, mercury, copper, lead, cadmium, nickel, and zinc, as well as per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly referred to as “forever chemicals.” A structured and transparent ...

Investigation of diffusion behavior of carburized sheet metal in hot stamping

open access: yesManufacturing Review, 2019
Today, manufacturing of structural car body parts faces several challenges, like forming accuracy, passenger safety and lightweight design. One possibility to fulfill these partially rivalling demands is the application of hot stamped components.

Effect of carbonization on the mechanical properties of mild steel utilizing oak charcoal as a carbon source [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal
Carburizing is a process that improves the mechanical properties of low-carbon steel, particularly its surface hardness. Introducing carbon into the steel's surface enhances the creation of a durable and resistant outer layer.  The technique is ...

Synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes From CO2 Enabled by Fe–Mo Bimetallic Catalysts via Effective CO2 Scavenging

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
The tandem process involves CO2 methanation and CH4 pyrolysis for CNT synthesis. Unreacted CO2 and H2 from methanation oxidize Fe, suppressing CNT growth on Fe‐only catalysts. Incorporation of Mo into Fe/MgO forms Mo2C, which prevents Fe oxidation under CO2/H2 conditions and thereby enables CNT formation.
