High-activity carburizer for carburizing
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 19791. The addition of polycaproamide to a carburizer consisting of soot and sodium carbonate greatly speeds up the carburizing process. 2. Carburizing steels 3Kh13, ShKh15, and KhVG in carburizer containing polycaproamide makes it possible to obtain a case with as much as 4% C with a wear resistance 250–300% higher than that of quenched ...

Abstract Carburization of FeNiCr alloys leads to internal carbide formation or “metal dusting”. The appearance of these phenomena and the changes in materials properties involved are described. Under most technical conditions the alloys are protected against carburization by an oxide layer. Some carbon penetration into the alloy occurs by diffusion

Carburization - introductory survey
Materials and Corrosion, 1998This survey revisits the research in Germany in the seventies and eighties on carburization conducted in a fine cooperation of research institutes and a supplier of high temperature alloys, funded in the programme FEKKS by the BMFT. The kinetics and mechanism of the carburization of high alloy Cr-Ni-steels and the main reasons for failure were ...

Advances in Carburizing — Vacuum Carburizing
1985Steel components having appropriate combinations of wear resistance, mechanical strength, impact strength, etc., especially at higher temperatures (above 500°F) can be produced by employing the well-known conventional carburizing process or a suitably modified process.

Thermochemical treatments carried out in microwave plasma are applied to steel substrates to increasehardness and prevent corrosion and simultaneously improve wear resistance. They are efficient for steelcarburizing. Since they are electrodeless process, the steel is free from metallic sputtering.
