Carbon Nanotubes: A Summary of Beneficial and Dangerous Aspects of an Increasingly Popular Group of Nanomaterials

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are nanomaterials with broad applications that are produced on a large scale. Animal experiments have shown that exposure to CNTs, especially one type of multi-walled carbon nanotube, MWCNT-7, can lead to malignant transformation.

Cadmium, carcinogen, co-carcinogen and anti carcinogen [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Clinical Biochemistry, 2001
As a stress agent, inducing apoptosis and blocking it, Cd can have both helpful and harmful effects. The atmosphere is a thin envelope which makes the worid a global village. Cd is the most toxic metal in air. As both the first and second messenger of the stress response, it is synergistically toxic with all other stressors, including many other ...

Oxidative Stress in the Carcinogenicity of Chemical Carcinogens [PDF]

open access: yesCancers, 2013
This review highlights several in vivo studies utilizing non-genotoxic and genotoxic chemical carcinogens, and the mechanisms of their high and low dose carcinogenicities with respect to formation of oxidative stress. Here, we survey the examples and discuss possible mechanisms of hormetic effects with cytochrome P450 inducers, such as phenobarbital, a-

Immunomodulatory role of black tea in the mitigation of cancer induced by inorganic arsenic [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. Plus (2020) 135: 735, 2020
We present a model analysis of the tumor and normal cell growth under the influence of a carcinogenic agent, an immunomdulator (IM) and variable influx of immune cells including relevant interactions. The tumor growth is facilitated by carcinogens such as inorganic arsenic while the IM considered here is black tea (Camellia sinesnsis).
