Pulmonary capillary blood flow during cardiac catheterization

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1962
Methods for the measurement of mean and instantaneous pulmonary capillary blood flow by means of a horizontal body plethysmograph have been described. Methods of calibration were described for the determination of the rate with which N2O was taken up by the blood from the recorded plethysmographic pressure. They included a correction factor for leaks,

Cardiac Blood Flow Detection

1976
Real time B-mode sector scanning combined with simultaneous pulse Doppler flow detection provides a method for the more accurate assessment of cardiac performance. The heart is a multi-chambered, multivalved, variable geometry pump whose comprehensive description requires a multidimensional measurement approach.

Effects of aging on cardiac blood flow velocities

Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 1988
AbstractThe effects of aging on cardiac blood flow velocities are important as a description of the natural history of the aging process and as a reference for evaluation of the aging cardiovascular system. We therefore studied these effects in 215 healthy volunteers, 120 males and 95 females, between 1 and 65 years old.

Fetal blood flow measurements during fetal cardiac arrythmia

Early Human Development, 1984
3 cases of fetal complete heart block, 1 case of fetal bradycardia and 2 cases of fetal supraventricular tachycardia were studied. Using an ultrasonic technique combining real-time ultrasound with a pulsed Doppler system, blood flow measurements at the lower thoracic level of the fetal descending aorta were taken.

Umbilical blood flow, cardiac output, and organ blood flow in the immature baboon fetus

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1973
Abstract Seven immaturebbaboon fetuses were studied in an acute surgical protocol at 116 to 124 days' gestation (term = 184). Mean umbilical blood flow was 121 ± 29 ml. per minute per kilogram, mean cardiac output was 219 ± 30 ml. per minute per kilogram, and mean placental diffusion clearance of antipyrine was 75 ± 17 ml.

Regional Blood Flows in High-Cardiac-Output Hypertension

Clinical Science, 1980
1. Mean arterial pressure, cardiac output (electromagnetic flow-meter) and regional blood flows (15 μm radioactive microspheres) were measured repeatedly in eight dogs receiving a salt and water load after renal mass reduction as well as in six control animals. 2.

Inflammation and Myocardial Blood Flow in Cardiac Sarcoidosis

Current Cardiology Reports
Cardiac involvement in systemic sarcoidosis or isolated cardiac sarcoidosis plays a pivotal role in the clinical manifestation and prognostication. Active-inflammatory cardiac sarcoidosis is associated with a regional impairment of coronary microvascular function that may confer further detrimental effects on myocardial function needing further ...

Color Doppler Assessment of Cardiac Blood Flow

Advances in Bioengineering, 1995
Abstract Color Doppler echocardiography was first introduced in clinical cardiology in 1982. This method color encodes velocities in the direction towrad the transducer and displays them on a two-dimensional plane. Because it couples blood velocity and anatomic measurements, it was quickly adopted by cardiologists.

Percutaneous assessment of coronary blood flow and cardiac biomarkers

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 2002
The aim of this study was to compare blood flow determined by coloured microspheres vs. Doppler intravascular ultrasound (US) combined with angiography. A second endpoint was to assess cardiac troponin I (cTnI) as a marker of myocardial injury. Doppler and microspheres were compared in 11 closed chest pigs.
