Sexual dimorphism in cardiometabolic and cardiac mitochondrial function in obese rats following sex hormone deprivation

open access: yesNutrition & Diabetes, 2022
Objective Our study aims to test the hypothesis that poorer function of cardiac mitochondria in males, under sex hormone-deprived and obese-insulin-resistant conditions, is responsible for a worse cardiometabolic function than females.

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Utility of a Novel 12‐Lead ECG Criterion for Localizing Manifest Right Sided Accessory Pathways: A Derivation Study

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia
Introduction Most of the existing algorithms for manifest accessory pathway (AP) localization fall short in the diagnostic accuracy of distinguishing different pathway locations, particularly in the septal region. Objective and Methods This study aims at
