The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Newer methods of cardiac output monitoring.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Cardiology, 2014
Cardiac output (CO) is the volume of blood ejected by each ventricle per minute and is the product of stroke volume and heart rate. CO can thus be manipulated by alteration in heart rate or rhythm, preload, contractility and afterload.

Prediction of fluid responsiveness using respiratory variations in left ventricular stroke area by transoesophageal echocardiographic automated border detection in mechanically ventilated patients. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
BackgroundLeft ventricular stroke area by transoesophageal echocardiographic automated border detection has been shown to be strongly correlated to left ventricular stroke volume. Respiratory variations in left ventricular stroke volume or its surrogates

Correlation of cardiac output and sevoflurane required to maintain anesthetic depth targeted with entropy index

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, 2014
Aims and Objectives: We investigated the correlation of reduced cardiac output on required sevoflurane to maintain targeted anesthesia depth. Materials and Methods: 36 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting with cardiopulmonary bypass were ...

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

CARDIAC OUTPUT COMPUTATION

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1970
SUMMARY A comparatively simple mathematical expression has been devised for the computation of the area under the cardiac output curve which is easy to use, quick to give a result, and yet is comparable in accuracy to other methods of determining cardiac output when the dye dilution technique is used.

Calibrated cardiac output monitoring versus standard care for fluid management in the shocked ICU patient: a pilot randomised controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Intensive Care, 2019
Background Despite the evidence for calibrated cardiac monitored devices to determine fluid responsiveness, there is minimal evidence that the use of cardiac output monitor devices leads to an overall change in IV fluid use.

Scapular renal cell carcinoma metastasis as a cause of high-output heart failure: a case report

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2022
Background High-output heart failure is a rare condition that occurs when the heart is unable to respond to a sustained increase in blood demand. On echocardiography, a cardiac index of > 4 L/min/m2 (or 6 L/min) is a clear indicator of this disorder. The
