Neural Plasticity and Hearing‐Speech Development in Children with Auditory Brainstem Implants for Congenital Hearing Loss Due to Severe Inner Ear Malformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Data from a prospective cohort with 112 auditory brainstem implant users are analyzed. Younger age at implantation (<3 years), less severe inner‐ear malformation (common cavity, cochlear aplasia, and hypoplasia), and more intraoperative eABR evoked electrodes (≥60%) are associated with better hearing and speech outcomes.

RONIN/HCF1‐TFEB Axis Protects Against D‐Galactose‐Induced Cochlear Hair Cell Senescence Through Autophagy Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
D‐galactose (D‐gal) induced inner ear hair cell senescence by inhibiting TFEB transcription. RONIN/HCF1 promotes TFEB transcription to prevent cochlear HCs from D‐gal‐induced senescence through autophagy activation. Abstract Age‐related hearing loss is characterized by senescent inner ear hair cells (HCs) and reduced autophagy.

Acod1 Promotes PAD4 Ubiquitination via UBR5 Alkylation to Modulate NETosis and Exert Protective Effects in Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, Acod1 knockout in CLP mice significantly increases peripheral blood NET levels, exacerbating inflammation, organ damage, and reducing survival. Further research shows that UBR5 interacts with PAD4, a key NET formation protein. Acod1/itaconate (ITA) enhances the enzymatic activity of UBR5 by alkylating the Cys2768 site, promoting the K48 ...

Aspects of leucocyte and fat filtration during cardiac surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Na een hartoperatie treden vaak door het hele lichaam ontstekingsreacties op. Door het bloed tijdens de operatie te filteren, lopen patiënten minder risico op beschadigingen in longen, hart en hersenen, ontdekte Hans de Vries.

Epigenetic Activation of CCDC183‐AS1 Promotes Osteoclastogenesis and Prostate Cancer Bone Metastasis Through the FUBP1/LIGHT Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CCDC183‐AS1 overexpression enhanced the ability of PCa cells to spread to the bone by inducing osteoclastogenesis. Mechanistically, CCDC183‐AS1 interacted with FUBP1 and enhanced its stability, which promoted the transcription of TNFSF14 (LIGHT). Copy number gain‐induced KDM5C epigenetically upregulated CCDC183‐AS1 expression by recruiting TET1 to the ...

Sutureless and Rapid Deployment Prosthesis in Redo-Bentall Endocarditis

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery
Aortic valve replacement (AVR) in a patient with a bio-Bentall conduit can be very challenging, especially if there was a previous endocarditis process for significant morbidity and mortality.
