Acute Myeloid Leukemia in a Patient With Xeroderma Pigmentosum: A Case Report
ABSTRACT Acute myeloid leukemia may occur in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum at a younger age and can be associated with complex cytogenetics and poor treatment response, highlighting the importance of regular hematologic monitoring.

ABSTRACT Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can closely mimic rheumatoid arthritis, leading to diagnostic delays. In patients with atypical inflammatory arthritis, early echocardiographic evaluation is vital to detect rare but life‐threatening complications like cardiac tamponade, ensuring prompt transition from RA‐directed therapy to life‐saving ...

Hybrid thoracoscopic‐endocardial ablation improved overall rhythm control, antiarrhythmic drug independence, and reduced repeat ablation compared with endocardial catheter ablation in persistent atrial fibrillation. These benefits were offset by greater procedural complexity and a higher risk of major complications. ABSTRACT Background Hybrid ablation (

The Japanese Catheter Ablation Registry (J‐AB): Annual Report in 2024
Analysis of 112 151 catheter ablation procedures from the 2024 Japanese Catheter Ablation (J‐AB) Registry demonstrated consistently low acute complication rates, with a slight reduction from 2023, confirming the safety of contemporary catheter ablation practice in Japan.

In patients undergoing first‐time pulmonary vein isolation for atrial fibrillation, pulsed field ablation was associated with lower arrhythmia recurrence and reduced transient phrenic nerve palsy compared with thermal ablation. Durable pulmonary vein isolation and most safety outcomes were similar between treatment strategies.

In a cohort of 858 patients undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation, the use of the VASCADE device was associated with a significant reduction in both post‐procedural and bed‐rest durations compared to the Perclose device and manual compression. Although re‐bleeding rates were similar among the groups, no major vascular complications occurred with the ...

Dyspnoea, cough and weight loss initially suggested thoracic malignancy. CT thorax–abdomen demonstrated a large right subcapsular pyogenic liver abscess with contiguous non‐fistulous transdiaphragmatic spread causing lung abscess and pleural empyema. Image‐guided liver abscess drainage and prolonged antimicrobial therapy led to sustained clinical and ...

Abstract A 5‐month‐old, entire, male labradoodle presented with acute respiratory distress following surgical repair of a congenital ventral abdominal wall defect performed earlier the same day. On admission, the dog was lethargic, tachypnoeic and tachycardic with normal peripheral pulses and muffled heart sounds.

Pericardial Decompression for Acute Traumatic Cardiac Tamponade—Pearls and Clamshells
ABSTRACT Acute traumatic cardiac tamponade is a time‐critical—but potentially reversible—cause of circulatory collapse. The surgical, operative, nursing and anaesthesiology staff most capable and best trained to perform the procedure are often not immediately available, requiring emergency medical staff to perform this life‐saving intervention.
