Pulsed‐Field Ablation Versus Radiofrequency Ablation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
Meta‐analysis of 2353 paroxysmal AF patients shows pulsed‐field ablation (PFA) reduces total procedure time by 39 min and left‐atrial dwell time, increases fluoroscopy time by 11 min, and achieves 1‐year AF‐free survival and safety rates comparable to radiofrequency ablation.

Unipolar Signal Augmentation as a Novel Marker of Tissue Contact in Pulsed Field Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
Unipolar electrograms exhibited a post‐P‐wave positive deflection at contact sites verified by intracardiac echocardiography (ICE). Notably, this signal persisted after ablation and corresponded to effective lesion formation, supporting its value as a practical marker for assessing tissue contact during and after pulsed field ablation (PFA). Active Fixation Atrial Pacemaker Lead Placement With a Modified Guiding Catheter in Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava: A Rare Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
The active fixation atrial pacemaker lead was successfully placed in the proximal part of the persistent left superior vena cava via a retrograde approach with a J‐shaped stylet and the modified guiding catheter, which was cut proximally by approximately 10 cm and held at the edge with forceps.

Pericardial tamponade after left posterolateral thoracotomy for left upper lobectomy for pulmonary aspergilloma

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, 2011
Pericardial tamponade limits diastolic filling of the heart; therefore, a high venous pressure is required to fill the ventricle. In presence of cardiac tamponade, therapeutic agents and manoeuvres that results in venodilation or vasodilation can ...
