Biosynthesis of Cardiolipin in Mitochondria

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1971
Conversion of sn-glycero-3-phosphate-2-3H to cardiolipin in mitochondria isolated from guinea pig liver has been established. Cardiolipin thus formed was isolated and characterized. Under similar conditions, microsomes were not able to catalyze the biosynthesis of cardiolipin in a detectable amount. The mechanism for the biosynthesis of cardiolipin in

Interaction of cartinine with mitochondrial cardiolipin

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1992
The physiological role of L-carnitine is to determine the transport of acyl-CoA through the mitochondrial membrane. However, some observations may also suggest a direct effect of the molecule per se on the physical properties of the membrane, most probably at the level of the binding site.

Assays of Cardiolipin Levels

2007
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the most useful methods for cardiolipin analysis and discusses their respective merits and shortcomings. Regardless of the technical details, the key to each method is the separation of cardiolipin from the other lipids that are present in biological tissues.
