Late Gadolinium Enhancement and Electrocardiographic Associations in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy [PDF]

open access: yesAnn Noninvasive Electrocardiol
Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is a negative prognostic marker in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). In pediatric patients with HCM, greater LGE presence is associated with a paradoxical reduction in left ventricular precordial lead voltages on the electrocardiogram.

Analysis of 4 Cases of Left Bundle Branch Block With Ventricular Preexcitation

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 30, Issue 4, July 2025.
ABSTRACT This paper reports 4 cases of ventricular preexcitation (WPW) accompanied by left bundle branch block (LBBB). WPW appeared intermittently in all cases: Case 1 involved a right‐sided accessory pathway, while Cases 2–4 involved left‐sided accessory pathways.

De Novo Missense Variant in Bovine WDR33 Associated With a Complex Syndromic Form of Cleft Palate With Pentalogy of Fallot and Internal Hydrocephalus

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Cleft palate (CP) is a congenital defect characterized by an opening in the palate. Two crossbred paternal half‐sibs with a complex syndrome including CP were identified. Hypothesis/Objectives Characterize disease phenotype and evaluate the genetic cause of the observed syndrome.

Influence of Signalment Variables on Body Weight‐Normalized Echocardiographic Measurements of Heart Size in 56 169 Adult Unsedated Normal Pure‐Bred Cats

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Echocardiography is widely used to breed‐screen cats for the presence of heart disease. Left‐sided cardiac dimensions are non‐linearly related to body weight (BW), but the association with signalment variables is incompletely evaluated. Objective To validate previously published prediction equations (PE) and 95% prediction intervals

Immunosenescence and Inflammaging in Dogs and Cats: A Narrative Review

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT A consistent and important feature of biological aging is the change in the types and functions of cells comprising the immune system. Across various mammalian species, this change follows consistent patterns, including diminished protective capacity, leading to increased vulnerability to infectious disease, and increased low‐grade chronic ...
