A Genome‐Wide Association Study Reveals Desmoglein‐2 Predominance in Japanese Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
A GWAS of Japanese arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy identified a strong signal near DSG2, exceeding the genome‐wide significance of p = 5 × 10–8 (red line). This signal disappeared after excluding carriers of rare DSG2 variants. Stratified analyses indicate that the association reflects a DSG2‐D494A‐mediated synthetic effect driven predominantly by this ...

Clinical Outcomes of Patients Hospitalized for Conventional Pacemaker Implantation With Protein‐Energy Malnutrition

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
Protein‐energy malnutrition (PEM) was linked to higher in‐hospital mortality, longer hospital stays, and increased complications in patients undergoing pacemaker implantation. ABSTRACT Introduction The impact of protein‐energy malnutrition (PEM) on patients hospitalized for conventional pacemaker implantation remains poorly understood.

Cardiac dysfunction during adverse maternal outcomes in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 2, Page 280-287, February 2026.
In pregnancies complicated by hypertensive disorders, peripartum adverse maternal outcomes are associated with diastolic cardiac dysfunction. Elevated E/e' ratio and left atrial volume index highlight the need for targeted cardiovascular monitoring and long‐term follow‐up.
