Comparing the effect of STan (cardiotocographic electronic fetal monitoring (CTG) plus analysis of the ST segment of the fetal electrocardiogram) with CTG alone on emergency caesarean section rates: study protocol for the STan Australian Randomised controlled Trial (START) [PDF]

open access: yesTrials, 2019
Background Cardiotocography is almost ubiquitous in its use in intrapartum care. Although it has been demonstrated that there is some benefit from continuous intrapartum fetal monitoring using cardiotocography, there is also an increased risk of ...

Agreement and accuracy using the FIGO, ACOG and NICE cardiotocography interpretation guidelines [PDF]

open access: bronze, 2016
INTRODUCTION: One of the limitations reported with cardiotocography (CTG) is the modest interobserver agreement observed in tracing interpretation. This study compared agreement, reliability and accuracy of CTG interpretation using the FIGO, ACOG and ...

Estimation and Discriminability of Doppler Ultrasound Fetal Heart Rate Variability Measures

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence, 2021
Continuous electronic fetal monitoring and the access to databases of fetal heart rate (FHR) data have sparked the application of machine learning classifiers to identify fetal pathologies.

Efficacy of admission cardiotocography on neonatal outcome in term pregnancy admitted in labor in a rural-based tertiary care center: A prospective study

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2022
Background: Cardiotocography (CTG) is first-line investigation for antepartum and intrapartum fetal assessment. Fetal monitoring during labor helps identifying fetuses at risk of hypoxic damage and helps institute appropriate intervention to optimize ...

The importance of antepartum cardiotocography [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Perinatal Medicine, 1986
The significance of antepartum cardiotocography was examined on patients at the University of Cologne in the years 1982 and 1983. We analyzed 13,310 cardiotocograms of 1,463 women and correlated their pregnancies and deliveries with the status of their newborns. There were only 66 suspect/prepathologic fetal heart rate recordings in 50 patients.

DeepCTG® 1.0: an interpretable model to detect fetal hypoxia from cardiotocography data during labor and delivery

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2023
IntroductionCardiotocography, which consists in monitoring the fetal heart rate as well as uterine activity, is widely used in clinical practice to assess fetal wellbeing during labor and delivery in order to detect fetal hypoxia and intervene before ...

Pregnancy outcomes of normal versus abnormal cardiotocography in a tertiary centre in Nepal [PDF]

open access: gold, 2019
Background: Pregnancy and childbirth is normal physiological process with great pathological potential. The obstetricians are more concerned with the early recognition of fetal distress during labour and such an adverse outcome should be detected at the ...

Severe Neonatal Anemia Due to Spontaneous Massive Fetomaternal Hemorrhage at Term: An Illustrative Case with Suspected Antenatal Diagnosis and Brief Review of Current Knowledge

open access: yesMedicina, 2021
Fetomaternal hemorrhage is defined as transfer of fetal blood into placental circulation and therefore into maternal circulation during pregnancy, and represents an important contributor to intrauterine fetal demise and neonatal death.
