A Huge Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor of Maxilla

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2012
The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a benign, nonneoplastic (hamartomatous) lesion with a slow progressing growth. It occurs in both intraosseous and peripheral forms.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Infection: Participation of TH1, TH2, TH17 and Regulatory T Cells in the Immune Response

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2018
Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the etiologic agent of Tuberculosis, is a pathogen that is widely distributed geographically. Tuberculosis is classified as a granulomatous inflammatory condition where effector cells accumulate at the site of mycobacterial ...

Comparison of Cord Blood Lipid Profile among Appropriate for Gestational Age and Small for Gestational Age Term Neonates: A Cross-sectional Study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neonatal Medicine and Research
Introduction: Antenatal factors such as prematurity and Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) may influence the levels of various cord blood lipoproteins and subsequently predispose infants to early-onset ischaemic heart diseases.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

M-Shaped Conformal Antenna with FSS Backing for Gain Enhancement

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
A frequency selective surface (FSS) integrated conformal antenna is modelled and analytical study is presented in this article. A novel antenna design known as the “M-shaped Conformal Antenna with FSS Backing for Gain Improvement” makes use of both the ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Relationship between Serum Vitamin D Levels and HDL Cholesterol in Postmenopausal Women from Colombian Caribbean

open access: yesJournal of Nutrition and Metabolism, 2018
Background. Previous evidence suggests that metabolic disorders in postmenopausal women could be related with low serum vitamin D levels. For example, vitamin D deficiency has been associated with increased risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD ...
