Effects of gamma radiation on the sterility and behavioral quality of the caribbean fruit fly, Anastrepha suspensa (Loew) (Diptera:Tephritidae) Efeitos da radiação gama na esterilização e comportamento da mosca-do-caribe, Anastrepha suspensa (Low) (Diptera:Tephritidae)

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 1993
Pupae of Anastrepha suspensa (Loew) were irradiated 2 days before adult eclosión in an air atmosphere with 15, 20, 25, 30, 50 and 70 Gy of gamma radiation (Co-60).

Evaluation of Protein Bait Formulations for the Caribbean Fruit Fly (Diptera: Tephritidae)

open access: yesThe Florida Entomologist, 1993
Laboratory and field trials were conducted to determine the preference of the Caribbean fruit fly, Anastrepha suspensa (Loew), for aqueous formulations of the protein bait NuLure@? and standard torula yeast plus sodium borate (HTY-borax) pellets. Addition of 1-10% borax to 10% NuLure solution increased bait pH, and this increase was directly correlated

Female remating behaviour in pest tephritid fruit flies and its implication for the sterile insect technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The efficiency of the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT)targeting tephritid fruit flies depends not only on sterile males mating withwild females, but also on their ability to transmit an ejaculate and inhibitfemale remating.

Colored Spherical Traps for Capture of Caribbean Fruit Fly, Anastrepha suspensa

open access: yesThe Florida Entomologist, 1990
Colored spheres of five different sizes (6.3, 8.9, 14.0, 16.5, 20.0 cm diam) and five colors (orange, black, yellow, green, white) were coated with a trapping compound and presented to field-caged flies (males, virgin females, mated females). The most females were captured on the 20 cm orange, green, and white balls and the 8.9 cm yellow ball.
