Effects of deficit irrigation and biostimulants on melon productivity and quality in semi‐arid conditions

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Water scarcity and soil salinization are major constraints to irrigated agriculture in semi‐arid regions, affecting crop productivity and fruit quality. Combining deficit irrigation with biostimulant application has emerged as a promising strategy to improve water use efficiency and plant stress tolerance.

Antimicrobial Cyclic Peptidomimetics

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Singular macromolecular cationic, amphipathic cyclic peptidomimetics with poly(2‐oxazoline)s‐esque backbone structure that undergo self‐assembly in water to form uniform nanoparticles were developed. The cyclic peptidomimetics, which act on bacterial cell membranes, exhibit hydrophobic‐dependent antimicrobial activity and toxicity.

Erwinia papayae sp. nov., a pathogen of papaya (Carica papaya) [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2004
Bacterial canker of papaya (Carica papaya) emerged during the 1980s in different islands of the Caribbean. Nineteen strains of Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacteria isolated from papaya were compared to 38 reference and type strains of phytopathogenic Enterobacteriaceae and related bacteria.
