Abstract In addition to the previously known differences between human and rodent saliva as regards their pH values, striking differences have been found especially in their phosphate content and buffer capacity. These differences are offered as possible explanations for the different responses to dietary phosphate additives which have been found in ...

The aims of this in vitro study were to compare the cariostatic potential of a resin modified glass ionomer cement (Fuji Ortho LC) to that of a resin control (Transbond) for bracket bonding and to compare the effect of extrinsic fluoride application on the cariostatic potential of each material.Ex vivo study.Orthodontic brackets were bonded to 40 ...

summary A new buffering lozenge (sucking tablet) was developed for patients susceptible to dental caries and erosion, in particular for those with reduced salivary secretion. As active ingredients this lozenge comprises of a combination of xylitol, fluoride, calcium, phosphate, zinc and buffering compounds. To test the lozenge's activity in vivo,

Further Studies of the Cariostatic Properties of Tin (II) and Oat Hulls in the Rat
Two experimental dental caries studies were conducted in rats to investigate further the cariostatic activity of oat hulls and tin (II). The findings confirm the cariostatic activity of oat hulls regardless of the nutritional content of the diet ...
