Abstract Samples of Apis mellifera ligustica from Emilia (northcentral Italy), samples of A. m. carnica from Austria and from northern Yugoslavia, and samples from Friuli (northeast Italy), regarded as a zone of hybridization, were assayed for allozyme polymorphism. Five loci were found to be polymorphic: Est-3, Est6, Mdh-l, Me, Pgm.

Diversity of Carniolan bee (A. m. carnica) in Croatia
1999Morphometric differences of three existing ecotypes: subalpin, pannonian and medditeranean of autohtonous Carniolan bee (A.m. carnica) in Croatia was investigated. Honeybee population in coastal and island region is the least known. Morphometric measurements were done on wings and legs of 630 worker bees. Width, length, and surface of fore wing, length

Breeding and selection of carniolan bees (A. M. Carnica) in Croatia
2001On the whole theritory of the Republic of Croatia autohtonus Carniolan bee race (Apis mellifera Carnica, Pollm. 1879) is bred. In some races are known ecotypes are better adapted to specific climatic conditions. Any sistem of breeding and selection has to consider such genetic variability to ensure optimal results.

Morfological characteristics of reproductive organs in carniolan queen bee (Apis mellifera carnica)
