[24] Methods for investigating photoregulated carotenogenesis
1993Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the mechanism by which light regulates the de novo synthesis of carotenoids in the red yeast, Rhodotorula minuta . The biosynthesis of carotenoid pigments is photoregulated in a wide range of organisms, and this photoregulation has been studied by many workers as a typical example of a biosynthetic process

Carotenoids and Carotenogenesis in Anoxygenic Photosynthetic Bacteria
2006More than 50 genera including about 130 species of anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria have been described. These bacteria produce around 100 different carotenoids. In this chapter, the carotenoid compositions of all the photosynthetic bacteria so far described are summarized.
