Fractured Internal Carotid Artery Stent

Vascular, 2008
Carotid artery stenting is gaining wider acceptance as an alternative option in the treatment of carotid artery stenosis. Conventional complications such as stroke and recurrent in-stent restenosis are well documented in the literature. However, we believe that carotid stent complications are underreported. The carotid artery segment has features that

Spontaneous Internal Carotid Artery Dissection

Southern Medical Journal, 2000
Once considered uncommon, spontaneous dissection of the carotid artery is an increasingly recognized cause of stroke, headache, cranial nerve palsy, or ophthalmologic events, especially in young adults. Even in the presence of existing signs and symptoms, the diagnosis can be missed by experienced physicians of all specialties.

Bilateral Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysms

Archives of Surgery, 1979
Two patients were treated for bilateral internal carotid artery aneurysms. One had resection and restoration of continuity on the right side nine years after ligation of the left internal carotid artery. The second had sequential resection and reconstruction of both vessels.

Right internal carotid artery agenesis

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2008
Congenital absence of one or both carotid arteries is a rare anomaly. It is usually discovered incidentally by computed tomography, or magnetic resonance imaging of head and neck taken for some other reason. Most of the patients are asymptomatic, although there is a close association of intracranial aneurysms and subarachinoid hemorrhage in many ...

Pseudoaneurysm of Internal Carotid Artery

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2007
Pseudoaneurysms of the extracranial Internal Carotid Artery (ICA) are rare. Here it is reported a case of posttraumatic extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysm in a three-year-old boy. The pseudoaneurysm arising from the extracranial ICA was initially diagnosed by DSA. Later on confirmed by Doppler and MRA.

External carotid artery stenting in symptomatic internal carotid artery occlusion

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2020
We report the case of a patient with an anterior ischemic stroke due to tandem occlusion of the left M2 segment and ipsilateral internal carotid artery (ICA), with concomitant severe stenosis of the ipsilateral external carotid artery (ECA) and contralateral ICA, and moderate stenosis of the left vertebral artery (VA); as thrombectomy was not possible,

Extracranial internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm

International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, 2005
Extracranial internal carotid artery aneurysms are very uncommon entities. We present the case of a young girl who was transferred to our institution after development of a neck mass after Quincy tonsillectomy. The literature on extracranial carotid artery aneurysms is reviewed and reported.

Extracranial Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysms

The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, 1986
Two cases of extracranial internal carotid artery aneurysms are presented. In each case the cranial end of the aneurysm was in contact with the base of the skull. Ligation of the internal carotid artery was performed in the first case. Temporary occlusion of the distal internal carotid artery by means of a Fogarty catheter allowed resection with end-to-

Aberrant internal carotid artery associated with occipital artery arising from the internal carotid artery

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2015
We present an extremely rare case of an aberrant course of the petrous internal carotid artery (ICA) associated with the ipsilateral occipital artery arising from the cervical ICA, a combination not previously reported by magnetic resonance (MR) angiography. The patient was a 53-year-old woman with no symptoms related to the anomalous ICA.
