Programmable Compliance in Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts by Design of Melt‐Electrowritten Scaffold Architectures for In Situ Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Small‐diameter vascular grafts with compliance tunable by design are fabricated via melt electrowriting. By controlling the winding angle of intertwined helical fibers, grafts with compliances matching those of human vessels, from veins to arteries, are realized. This holds the potential of avoiding a compliance mismatch, which has been identified as a

A Patient‐Specific 3D Printed Carotid Artery Model Integrating Vascular Structure, Flow, and Endothelium Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces the first miniaturized, patient‐specific carotid artery model created via 3D printing using GelMA with embedded vascular cells. Combining CFD, PIV, and flow perfusion, the model replicates anatomically dependent hemodynamics and cellular responses.

Coronary Artery Disease Events and Carotid Intima‐Media Thickness in Type 1 Diabetes in the DCCT/EDIC Cohort

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2021
Background Carotid artery intima‐media thickness (IMT) is associated with the risk of subsequent cardiovascular events in the general population. This association has not been established in type 1 diabetes.

Aneurysms of the intracranial segment of the ophthalmic artery trunk. case report and systematic literature review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aneurysms arising from the ophthalmic artery trunk (OAT) are very rare, particularly in the artery's intracranial course. The onset of a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) from a ruptured OAT aneurysm in this segment is extremely rare.

Primary balloon angioplasty for chronic occlusion of intracranial internal carotid artery: A case report

open access: yesJournal of Interventional Medicine, 2022
Chronic occlusion of large intracranial arteries is the main cause of ischemic stroke in China. Patients with symptomatic intracranial artery occlusion and hemodynamic impairment are at high risk of recurrent stroke. Chronic occlusion of the intracranial

Hypoglossal nerve palsy due to carotid artery dissection: an uncommon presentation of a common problem

open access: yesThe Neuroradiology Journal, 2019
Spontaneous internal carotid artery dissection occurs in patients of all ages, rarely presenting with hypoglossal nerve palsy. The characteristic imaging findings of internal carotid artery dissection and tongue denervation are reviewed in four patients.
