Cognitive function in late‐stage HFpEF patients with tricuspid regurgitation undergoing transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 100, Issue 7, Page 1323-1330, December 1, 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives This study evaluates the impact of transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions (TTVI) on cognitive function (CF), quality of life (QOL), and exercise capacity in late‐stage heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and relevant tricuspid regurgitation (TR).

Occlusion of Internal Carotid Artery in Kimura's Disease

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2010
We describe a unique case of Kimura's disease in which cerebral infarction was caused by occlusion of the right internal carotid artery. A 25-year-old man with Kimura's disease was admitted to our hospital because of left hemiparesis. Computed tomography

Adjusting for bias introduced by instrumental variable estimation in the Cox Proportional Hazards Model [PDF]

open access: yesBiostatistics, 2017, 2017
Instrumental variable (IV) methods are widely used for estimating average treatment effects in the presence of unmeasured confounders. However, the capability of existing IV procedures, and most notably the two-stage residual inclusion (2SRI) procedure recommended for use in nonlinear contexts, to account for unmeasured confounders in the Cox ...

Evaluation of asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis prior to coronary artery bypass grafting - A prospective observational study in North Indian population

open access: yesAnnals of Indian Academy of Neurology, 2022
Background: Carotid artery stenosis (CAS) is an established risk factor for peri-operative neurological complications in patients following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

Association between coronary artery atherosclerosis and the intima-media thickness of the common carotid artery measured on ultrasonography

open access: yesArquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia, 2003
OBJECTIVE: To assess whether the intima-media thickness of the common carotid artery of patients with coronary artery disease is greater than that of individuals without that disease.

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

Analysis of atherosclerotic plaque distribution in the carotid artery

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1272-1276, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background The present study was designed to investigate the hypothesis that the outer wall at the carotid bifurcation is the most common area of atherosclerotic plaque deposition due to the low shear stress. Hypothesis We hypothesized that the most common site of arteriosclerosis in carotid arteries is different in the early and late stages ...

Shape‐Reconfigurable Crack‐Based Strain Sensor with Ultrahigh and Tunable Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A highly sensitive crack‐based sensor with tunable strain detection capabilities is demonstrated through controlled nanocrack formation in a line‐patterned shape memory polymer substrate. The sensor design integrates thermoplastic polyurethane and poly(lactic acid), enabling thermo‐responsive reconfiguration of crack geometry.

The brain‐before‐heart strategy for coronary artery bypass grafting in the severely atherosclerotic aorta: A single‐institution experience

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1264-1271, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Severe atherosclerosis of the ascending aorta (SAA) in patients undergoing surgical revascularization by coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is becoming an increasing problem as more elderly patients are diagnosed with coronary artery disease.
