Asymptomatic Cerebral Emboli Following Carotid Artery Stenting: A Diffusion-Weighted MRI Study

open access: yesAnatolian Journal of Cardiology, 2022
Background: Silent cranial embolism due to carotid artery stenting has been demonstrated to cause dementia, cognitive decline, and even ischemic stroke.

Microendovascular Neural Recording from Cortical and Deep Vessels with High Precision and Minimal Invasiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Intravascular electroencephalography (ivEEG) using micro‐intravascular electrodes was developed. Cortical‐vein ivEEG showed a higher signal‐to‐noise ratio and finer spatial resolution of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) than superior sagittal sinus ivEEG, and deep‐vein ivEEG captured clear visual evoked potentials.

Revascularization for failed carotid artery stenting in a patient with a rare vertebral artery anomaly

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2018
There is a growing cohort of patients requiring complex revascularization for failed carotid artery stenting. This revascularization can be complex in patients with coexisting supra-aortic vascular anomalies.

Thrombectomy versus Medical Management for Pediatric Acute Ischemic Stroke Due to Isolated M2 Occlusion: A Multicenter Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is increasingly used for pediatric large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, however, its role in isolated M2 occlusions remains underexplored. This study compared clinical outcomes in children with isolated M2 occlusion treated with EVT versus best medical therapy (BMT). Methods This multicenter cohort study pooled

Prospective, Multicenter Evaluation of Transcarotid Artery Revascularization in Standard‐Risk Patients: 30‐Day Outcomes of the ROADSTER 3 Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To evaluate the real‐world safety and efficacy for standard surgical risk patients with extracranial internal carotid artery disease undergoing transcarotid artery revascularization. Methods ROADSTER 3 is a prospective, multicenter, single‐arm post‐approval study.

Cilostazol reduces restenosis after carotid artery stenting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
BACKGROUND: Although carotid artery stenting (CAS) has been proposed as an alternative to carotid endarterectomy in cerebral revascularization, restenosis remains an unsolved issue.

Atherectomy With Multimodal Embolic Protection for Severely Calcified Femoropopliteal Lesions

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Severe calcification in femoropopliteal lesions remains a clinical challenge to achieve both the technical and long‐term success in endovascular therapy. Although atherectomy is an effective treatment for calcified lesions, it is associated with the risk of distal embolization, even with the use of embolic protection devices (EPDs), and ...

P5.19 TRANSRADIAL APPROACH FOR CAROTID ARTERY STENTING: SINGLE-CENTER EXPERIENCE

open access: yesArtery Research, 2015
Objectives: The transfemoral approach is commonly used for carotid artery stenting (CAS) however in cases of severe peripheral vascular disease or unfavorable aortic arch anatomy, the transradial access remains a viable alternative. We report a series of

Non-protected carotid artery stenting for symptomatic carotid stenosis in low resource settings

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery, 2021
Background The use of a distal cerebral protection device during extracranial carotid artery stenting is still a matter of debate. The aim of this work was to evaluate the safety of performing carotid artery stenting procedure without the use of cerebral
