Obesity in Classic Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia: Mechanisms, Complications and Management
ABSTRACT Classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CCAH) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by 21‐hydroxylase deficiency. Although the survival rate of patients has significantly improved with glucocorticoid replacement therapy, long‐term use of supraphysiological doses and multiple factors inherent to the disease itself have led

Prediabetes, Malignant Ventricular Hypertrophy and Stroke: The SPRINT Trial
ABSTRACT Aims Prediabetes and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) are common risk factors in adults with hypertension. Whether their coexistence, particularly in the presence of subclinical myocardial injury or stress (malignant LVH), confers a heightened stroke risk is unknown.

Comparison of PREDICTS atherosclerosis biomarker changes after initiation of new treatments in patients with SLE [PDF]
Objective Patients with SLE have an increased risk ofatherosclerosis (ATH) that is not adequately explainedby traditional risk factors. We previously described thePredictors of Risk for Elevated Flares, Damage Progression, and Increased Cardiovascular ...

Degradomics for large‐scale mechanistic insights on proteases and proteolysis in human health
Proteolysis has an important role in human disease but remains relatively unexplored. Degradomics, the uncovering of proteolysis in tissues, cells, and proteins, uses mass spectrometry‐based terminomics to identify protein termini occurring therein (forward degradomics) and to define the actions of proteases (reverse degradomics).

This study reveals that monocyte cholesterol accumulation correlates with the severity of diabetic complications and predicts post‐discharge glycemic deterioration. These findings suggest that monocytic cholesterol serves as a novel translational biomarker reflecting ‘metabolic memory’ and therapeutic resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes ...

Pathophysiological link between carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral white matter lesions
Carotid atherosclerosis is associated with white matter hyperintensity (WMH), potentially resulting in cognitive and gait problems. We assessed the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis patterns and regional WMH, offering insights into possible ...
