Applications of factor-criteria system reconstruction analysis in the reproduction research on grass carp, black carp, silver carp and bighead in the Yangtze River

open access: yes, 2000
The natural reproduction of grass carp, black carp, silver carp, and bighead will be affected adversely by the Three Gorges Project in the Yangtze River.

Fish Poxviruses on the Rise: Prospects for Aquatic Health

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fish poxviruses are increasingly recognised as emerging pathogens of fish and should be considered in cases of unexplained gill or skin pathology. Carp edema virus (CEV), the causative agent of koi sleepy disease in common carp and koi (Cyprinus carpio), represents the first known example.

AN ARTIFICIAL MULTIPLE TRIPLOID CARP AND ITS BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

open access: yes, 1993
The chromosomes of the artificial triploid carp consist of three complete genomes from Xingguo red carp (Cyprinus carpio), mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio) and red crucian carp (Carassius auratus).

Innovative Field Applications of Probiotics, Prebiotics, and Medicinal Plant Products for Disease Control in Aquaculture

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Disease outbreaks and the associated reliance on antibiotics pose major constraints to the sustainability of modern aquaculture. As regulatory pressures increase and consumer demand shifts toward residue‐free production, diverse biological interventions are gaining prominence as viable alternatives to chemotherapeutics.

Challenging Host Specificity: Malacosporean Parasite Dynamics—Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae Beyond Salmonids—An Infection Experiment

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Proliferative Kidney Disease (PKD) is a severe parasitic disease of salmonids caused by the malacosporean endoparasite Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae. In the fish intermediate host, the parasite is disseminated via the circulatory system and ultimately reaches the kidney, where it matures before releasing infective spores into the environment ...

Axial muscle‐fibre orientations in larval zebrafish

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 517-533, April 2025.
In 4 days post‐fertilization zebrafish larvae, the fast axial muscle fibres follow helical trajectories that taper towards the tail. Adjacent muscle fibres form substantial angles relative to each other to accommodate this pattern. Using a novel semi‐automatic method, we quantified 3D fibre angles over the whole muscle volume.
