Carpal arch alteration after carpal tunnel release
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1986A retrospective clinical study quantitated postoperative widening of the transverse carpal arch after carpal tunnel release in a group of 50 patients. The relationship of this widening with postoperative pain, forearm circumference, grip strength, and wrist range of motion was evaluated.

A great deal of progress has been made in recent years with respect to understanding the normal and pathologic anatomy of the wrist. Nonetheless, our knowledge is incomplete, so there still is room for diversity of opinion regarding the diagnosis and treatment of most of the presently recognized wrist instabilities.

Combined Radio-Carpal and Mid-Carpal Dislocation
Journal of Hand Surgery, 1992We describe a case of combined volar dislocation of the lunate and dorsal dislocation of the remainder of the carpus. Such a combination is probably very rare and the possible mechanism of injury is discussed.

Carpal conformation in relation to carpal chip fracture
Veterinary Record, 1994An objective radiological method of assessing the degree to which horses are conformationally 'back at the knee' (hyper-extended) is described. The effects on the measurements of variations in the direction of the incident X-ray beam and variations in weight bearing by the horse were assessed.

The carpus is initially a cartilaginous structure that subsequently demarcates into separate carpal bones. Failure of differentiation of parts results in carpal coalition, the most common of which occurs between the lunate and triquetrum. Lunate-triquetral coalitions can be subdivided into four types according to the degree of union.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common work-related injury that has become a major cause of disability. The causes are varied, and prevention is the goal in the workplace. Carpal bone fractures make up a significant proportion of injuries to the wrist. The complex bone shape and articulations make diagnosis more difficult and missed injuries more common. This article reviews carpal bone fractures excluding the scaphoid.
