In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Photochemically Induced Phase Change in Monolayer Molybdenum Disulfide. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDs) are promising candidates for two-dimensional (2D) ultrathin, flexible, low-power, and transparent electronics and optoelectronics.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

An Enhanced Cycle Slip Detection Approach Based on Inter-Frequency Cross-Validation for Multi-Constellation and Multi-Frequency GNSS Systems

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Cycle slip detection in the carrier phase is important for achieving precise relative positioning with global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) in urban environments.

Data-aided carrier tracking loops [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Power in composite signal sidebands is used to enhance signal-to-noise ratio in carrier tracking loop, thereby reducing radio loss and decreasing probability of receiver error. By adding quadrature channel to phase-lock-loop detector circuit of receiver,

Carrier phase synchronizers

open access: yes, 2018
This work studies four carrier phase synchronizers (CPS) or carrier Phase Lock Loop (CPLL). The synchronizers are based in a loop with VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) that synchronizes the output feedback with the input. We consider four carrier synchronizers namely the analog, hybrid, combinational and sequential. The difference between them is in

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Orbital-selective Mott Phase in Multiorbital Models for Alkaline Iron Selenides K(1-x)Fe(2-y)Se2

open access: yes, 2012
We study a multiorbital model for the alkaline iron selenides K(1-x)Fe(2-y)Se2 using a slave-spin method. With or without ordered vacancies, we identify a metal-to-Mott-insulator transition at the commensurate filling of six 3d electrons per iron ion ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Effect of liquid droplets on turbulence in a round gaseous jet [PDF]

open access: yes
The main objective of this investigation is to develop a two-equation turbulence model for dilute vaporizing sprays or in general for dispersed two-phase flows including the effects of phase changes.
