The critical role of hot carrier cooling in optically excited structural transitions
The hot carrier cooling occurs in most photoexcitation-induced phase transitions (PIPTs), but its role has often been neglected in many theoretical simulations as well as in proposed mechanisms.

Blind adaptive carrier phase recovery for QAM systems
AbstractThis paper provides a study of adaptive phase recovery in quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) based communication systems. Here, we modify the traditional fourth-power phase recovery algorithm (FP-PRA) to propose three improved algorithms, and analyze their performances in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise, phase noise, frequency ...

Noise characterization of an Optical Frequency Comb using Offline Cross-Correlation
Using an offline cross-correlation technique, we have analyzed the noise behavior of a new type of optical frequency comb (OFC), which is carrier envelope offset (CEO) free by configuration, due to difference frequency generation.

Achievable Mitigation of Nonlinear Phase Noise through Optimized Blind Carrier Phase Recovery [PDF]
Partial mitigation of nonlinear phase noise by standard carrier phase recovery has been reported both, experimentally and through simulations. In this paper we quantify the achievable mitigation by using different implementations of the carrier phase recovery.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

QPSK-Modulation Modem Invariant to the Rotation of the Signal Constellation Plane
In order to increase the efficiency of dedicated frequency channels, i.e. to increase the specific data transfer rate, multipositional quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK, aka 4-PSK) should be used.
