Structural investigations of amino acid:[carrier protein] ligases and their specificity for carrier proteins

2012
Amino acid:[carrier protein] ligases (aa:CP ligases) are newly discovered bacterial homologues of atypical seryl-tRNA sythetases (aSerRS) which adopted a function different from attachment of serine to the cognate tRNA. aa:CP ligases covalently bind amino acid to the phosphopantetheine arm of the cognate carrier protein (CP).

Sterol Carrier Protein (SCP)

1986
Whereas the nature and function of the cholesterol-binding protein (“transcholesterin”, see Vol. I, p. 94) need much clarification, more information is available on certain tissue proteins that associate with cholesterol by noncovalent bonds. This type of protein is called sterol carrier protein (SCP).
