A Carryover Effect in HRI: Beyond Direct Social Effects in Human-Robot Interaction

IEEE/ACM International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction, 2022
We evaluate whether an interaction with robots can influence a subsequent Human-Human Interaction without the robots' presence. Social psychology studies indicate that some social experiences have a carryover effect, leading to implicit influences on ...

Say No to Carryovers

ADIPEC, 2022
Abstract Carryovers are infrequent incidents in process industry. Cause of these events is poorly understood. Carryover cannot be prevented using current configuration of instrumentation and control systems. Prior to the event operators are caught completely off-guard as the process parameters continue to stay in normal operating range ...

Pre-to post-fledging carryover effects and the adaptive significance of variation in wing development for juvenile songbirds.

Journal of Animal Ecology, 2020
Evolutionary ecologists have long been interested in the adaptive significance of morphological traits across stages of animal life. In some cases, traits that are not adaptive in one life stage may be adaptive in a subsequent stage.

Phonemic Carryover Perseveration: Word Blends

Seminars in Speech and Language, 2004
This article will outline and describe the aphasic disorder of recurrent perseveration and will demonstrate how it interacts with the retrieval and production of spoken words in the language of fluent aphasic patients who have sustained damage to the left (dominant) posterior temporoparietal lobe.

Carryover Bias in Visual Assessment

Perception, 2001
Carryover of stimuli in sequential judgments was studied for a visual assessment task involving estimation of the percentage cover of black circles on a white image. Seven image types with different levels of cover density were arranged in a sequentially balanced design in which each image type was preceded the same number of times by all image types.

Carryover in sensory trials

Food Quality and Preference, 2003
Carryover in attribute measurements is examined for a trained sensory panel assessing cheese. A model is proposed in which the carryover from a sample is proportional to the direct effect of the cheese type. No evidence of carryover was found in a trial where a standard set of 25 attributes was assessed.

Carryover of N-fertilization from corn to pasture in an integrated crop-livestock system

, 2020
Nutrient-use efficiency in pasture-crop rotations is not well understood. The hypothesis of this research is that nitrogen (N) cycled from the corn crop to the following pasture is not enough to supply the N demand of the pasture, independent of pasture ...

Carryover Bias in Clinical Investigations

The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1993
If the effect of a treatment continues after the treatment is withdrawn then the response to a second treatment may well be due in part to the previous treatment. This, so called, carryover effect may bias any type of study in which subjects are tested more than once. Crossover studies can be routinely checked for this bias.

Impact analysis of setup carryover and crossover on lot sizing problems

International Journal of Production Research, 2020
This paper presents a literature classification and a detailed computational study analysing the impact of considering the possibility of setup carryover and crossover when solving the lot sizing problem.
