Population Pharmacokinetics and Detection Times of Betamethasone After Intravenous, Intramuscular, and Intranasal Jet Administration of Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate in Horses

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Betamethasone concentrations in 20 horses from Japan and Germany following IV, IM, and INJ administration of betamethasone phosphate were analyzed using population pharmacokinetic modeling. For IV administration of 0.04 mg/kg q24 h, IPC and IUC were 0.012 and 0.31 ng/mL, respectively; the IUC approximated the IFHA urine ISL (0.20 ng/mL).

Simultaneous Detection of Steroid Esters and Multi‐Class Substances in Dried Blood Spots by LC‐HRMS/MS From a Single Spot for Human Doping Control

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
A validated LC‐HRMS/MS method enabled, for the first time, the comprehensive detection of steroid esters and multi‐class menu substances from a single dried blood spot. Following extraction, the resulting extract is split into two aliquots, reducing sample consumption and simplifying the analytical workflow.

A shining starlet: Nematostella vectensis as a model for developmental, regenerative, and comparative biology

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract The sea anemone, Nematostella vectensis, has been used as a model organism in developmental biology studies for many years. This estuarine species has the notable capacity to regenerate its full body plan from small pieces throughout life. Nematostella have been described as having a great degree of cellular plasticity.

Get it while it's hot: Benefits of a large herbivore exploiting stochastic resource pulses in a time of food scarcity

open access: yesEcosphere
To persist in seasonal environments, animals track, exploit, and store energy when food is plentiful. Seasonal changes in plant phenology that are predictable allow animals to track abundant food resources.

Revealing the Assembly Design of a BYD 46120 LFP Cylindrical Cell Through Systematic Teardown Analysis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
The internal assembly design of a commercial BYD 46120 LFP cylindrical lithium‐ion battery was revealed through systematic mechanical teardown and multi‐scale analysis. Key features, including a tabless electrode architecture, engineered current‐collecting disks, separator‐core mandrel design, and electrolyte composition, are reconstructed to provide ...

Long-term effects of abomasal infusion of linoleic and linolenic acids on the enrichment of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids into milk fat of lactating cows

open access: yesJDS Communications
Our objective was to compare abomasal infusions of linoleic (18:2n-6) and α-linolenic (18:3n-3) acid on the incorporation of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids (FA) into the milk fat of dairy cows and to evaluate their potential carryover effects.
