Universal Scaling Relations in Scale-Free Structure Formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A large number of astronomical phenomena exhibit remarkably similar scaling relations. The most well-known of these is the mass distribution $\mathrm{d} N/\mathrm{d} M\propto M^{-2}$ which (to first order) describes stars, protostellar cores, clumps ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Information cascade prediction of complex networks based on physics-informed graph convolutional network

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Cascade prediction aims to estimate the popularity of information diffusion in complex networks, which is beneficial to many applications from identifying viral marketing to fake news propagation in social media, estimating the scientific impact ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Quantifying the effects of future environmental changes on water supply and hydropower generation benefits of cascade reservoirs in the Yellow River Basin within the framework of reservoir water supply and demand uncertainty

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Inflow and water demand prediction plays an important role in reservoir operation rulemaking. Uncertainties in meteorological and hydrological modeling increase the complexity of inflow and water demand prediction, which are not sufficiently considered ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Cascade Learning Early Classification: A Novel Cascade Learning Classification Framework for Early-Season Crop Classification

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Accurate early-season crop classification is critical for food security, agricultural applications and policymaking. However, when classification is performed earlier, the available time-series data gradually become scarce.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

ICNet for Real-Time Semantic Segmentation on High-Resolution Images

open access: yes, 2018
We focus on the challenging task of real-time semantic segmentation in this paper. It finds many practical applications and yet is with fundamental difficulty of reducing a large portion of computation for pixel-wise label inference.
