Wavelength conversion for WDM communication systems using four-wavemixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers [PDF]
Four-wave mixing (FWM) in semiconductor optical amplifiers is an attractive mechanism for wavelength conversion in wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) systems since it provides modulation format and bit rate transparency over wide tuning ranges.

The hierarchy of channel networks in landscapes displays features that are characteristic of non-equilibrium complex systems. Here we show that a sequence of increasingly complex ridge and valley networks is produced by a system of partial differential equations coupling landscape evolution dynamics with a specific catchment area equation.

Cascaded generalised-K fading channel
A versatile fading distribution that generalises many commonly used models for multi-path and shadow fading is the so-called generalised-K (KG) distribution. By considering the product of N independent but not necessarily identically distributed (n.i.d.) squared KG random variables (RVs), we derive exact closed-form expressions for the moment ...

A technology based complexity model for reversible Cuccaro ripple-carry adder [PDF]
Reversible logic provides an alternative to classical computing, that may overcome many of the power dissipation problems. The paper presents a simple complexity model, from the study of a cascade of Cuccaro adders processed in standard 0.35 micrometer ...

Secrecy performance analysis over cascaded fading channels [PDF]
In this study, the authors investigate the secrecy performance at the physical layer of wireless communication systems where the channels are modelled as cascaded fading channels, in which the fading effects are worse than those in the cellular communication channels like Rayleigh and Nakagami‐ m

MRI Reconstruction Via Cascaded Channel-Wise Attention Network [PDF]
We consider an MRI reconstruction problem with input of k-space data at a very low undersampled rate. This can practically benefit patient due to reduced time of MRI scan, but it is also challenging since quality of reconstruction may be compromised. Currently, deep learning based methods dominate MRI reconstruction over traditional approaches such as ...

We address the consequences of backaction in the unidirectional coupling of two cascaded open quantum subsystems connected to the same reservoir at different spatial locations. In the spirit of [H. J. Carmichael, Phys. Rev. Lett.
