Case-Based Learning in Dermatology
Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, 2018Importance: The instruction of dermatology can be challenging due to its large scope, heavy clinical nature, and limited curriculum space. Case-based learning (CBL) is an emerging education paradigm and has no current literature on its use in dermatology.

Case‐Based Learning in Surgery: Lessons Learned
World Journal of Surgery, 2012AbstractBackgroundThe aim of the study was to obtain a deepened understanding of the implementation process of case‐based learning (CBL) during a surgical semester at the Undergraduate Medical Program at Karolinska Institutet. The objectives are to identify the level of success of the implementation and to identify practical and theoretical ...

Learning can be viewed as a problem of planning a series of modifications to memory. We adopt this view of learning and propose the applicability of the case-based planning methodology to the task of planning to learn. We argue that relatively simple, fine-grained primitive inferential operators are needed to support flexible planning.

Distributed case-based learning
Proceedings Fourth International Conference on MultiAgent Systems, 2002Multi-agent systems exploiting case-based reasoning techniques have to deal with the problem of retrieving episodes that are themselves distributed across a set of agents. From a Gestalt perspective, a good overall case may not be the one derived from the summation of best sub-cases.

CASE-BASED TEACHING AND LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Issues in Mental Health Nursing, 2001Case-based teaching and learning strategies can be utilized to assist advanced practice psychiatric nursing students in both obtaining requisite knowledge and enhancing clinical reasoning skills. We discuss the benefits of case-based learning in terms of how it (1) contributes to students' appropriate organization of information to be recalled later ...

The Case for Case Based Learning
2018Case-based reasoning (CBR) systems often refer to diverse machine learning functionalities and algorithms to augment their capabilities. In this article we review the concept of case based learning and define it as the use of case based reasoning for machine learning.

Case-based learning of strategic knowledge
1991In this paper we describe BOLERO, a case-based reasoner that learns strategic knowledge (plans) to improve the problem-solving capabilities of an expert system. As a planner, BOLERO is a reactive planner that when gathering new observations can immediately generate a new plan to cope with the new situations.

Case-based learning by observation
Proceedings of The 8th Australasian Conference on Interactive Entertainment: Playing the System, 2012In this paper, we present an agent which uses case-based reasoning to play the real-time strategy game StarCraft. Cases are gathered through observation of human actions in particular situations, which are extracted from game log files. Cases are then used by a domain-independent case-based reasoning framework to make in-game actions based on human ...

Social learning with case-based decisions
Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, 1999Abstract In decision problems with unknown payoffs, individuals use their own past experience and the experiences of others. In this article I develop a theory that links in a natural way aggregated decision processes to the underlying communication structure . In particular, I consider a binary decision problem. Since there is noise in the payoff
