Single-Cell Sequencing Reveals Differential Cell Types in Skin Tissues of Liaoning Cashmere Goats and Key Genes Related Potentially to the Fineness of Cashmere Fiber

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
Cashmere fineness is one of the important factors determining cashmere quality; however, our understanding of the regulation of cashmere fineness at the cellular level is limited.

Feltability of cashmere and other rare animal fibres and the effects of nutrition and blending with wool on cashmere feltability

open access: yes, 2014
Felting is a unique attribute of animal fibres used for the production of a range of industrial and apparel textiles. Felting can be an adverse attribute as a consequence of dimensional shrinkage during laundering.

From Assessment to Optimization: A Comprehensive Review of the Mutton Quality Evaluation Index, Factors, and Improvement Strategies

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
This graphical abstract summarizes the comprehensive framework of mutton quality, including evaluation indices, influencing factors, and improvement strategies. Meat quality is systematically assessed through multiple dimensions, including flavor, color, pH, tenderness, water‐holding capacity, intramuscular fat, and nutritional composition.

Drivers of plateau adaptability in cashmere goats revealed by genomic and transcriptomic analyses

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2023
Background The adaptive evolution of plateau indigenous animals is a current research focus. However, phenotypic adaptation is complex and may involve the interactions between multiple genes or pathways, many of which remain unclear.

Comparative Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Atlas Reveals the Genetic Regulation of Reproductive Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 17, 23 March 2026.
A cross‐species single‐cell transcriptomic atlas of reproductive and central nervous system tissues from sheep and humans reveals conserved cellular programs and regulatory networks that regulated fertility. Integration with GWAS for sheep lifetime average litter size identifies UNC5–SLIT–BMP signaling as a core pathway coordinating neuroendocrine ...

Combination of Transcriptomics and Proteomics Reveals Differentially Expressed Genes and Proteins in the Skin of EDAR Gene-Targeted and Wildtype Cashmere Goats

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Cashmere goats play a pivotal role in the animal hair industry and are economically valuable. Cashmere is produced through the periodic growth of secondary hair follicles. To improve their yield of cashmere, the regulatory mechanisms of cashmere follicle

Breeding goats for organic production in Germany [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
With only 120,000 females (year 2000), goat keeping is a niche activity in animal husbandry in Germany. Most of the goats (about 90%) are kept on part-time farms.

Effect of medicinal and food homologous plants polysaccharides on animal nutrition and health: A review

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 5-23, March 2026.
Abstract As one of the most important components of foods, animal meat provides a lot of protein, fat, and energy for humans. However, nutrition and health of animals directly affect the healthiness of human, especially antibiotic residues in animals induced by abuse of antibiotics.

Cashmere Production from Maraz Goats

open access: yesJournal of Zankoy Sulaimani - Part A, 2008
Cashmere/down production of 118 Maraz goats (36 males and 82 females) aged one to five years and older was investigated. Evaluation was based on the down percentage in undercoat. The overall mean of live weight, fleece weight, down percentage, fiber diameter and fiber length were 26.8 kg, 699.7 g, 27.7 %, 22.5 μm and 57.7 mm, respectively.
