Identification of a second begomovirus, Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus, causing cassava mosaic disease in India

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 2005
The DNA A and DNA B components of a begomovirus associated with cassava mosaic disease (CMD) originating from Kerala, India, were cloned. Biolistically inoculated clones induced symptoms typical of CMD in cassava. Sequence comparisons showed the virus to be an isolate of Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV).

Screening cassava for resistance to cassava mosaic disease by grafting and whitefly inoculation

Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection, 2012
Screening for cassava mosaic begomoviruses (CMBs)-resistance using grafting and whitefly inoculation was performed with local and improved cassava. The onset of symptom appearance and the evolution of Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) varied in function of genotypes and virus inoculation techniques used. Grafting position using cassava as scion or rootstock

The use of biolistic inoculation of cassava mosaic begomoviruses in screening cassava for resistance to cassava mosaic disease

Journal of Virological Methods, 2006
Inoculation of cassava with infectious clones of cassava mosaic geminiviruses (Geminiviridae: Begomovirus) and total DNA extracts from plants infected with well-characterised viruses was evaluated using the Bio-Rad Helios Gene Gun System. Total DNA extracts from infected plants and cloned viruses were produced for coating gold particles and bombardment
