The DNA A and DNA B components of a begomovirus associated with cassava mosaic disease (CMD) originating from Kerala, India, were cloned. Biolistically inoculated clones induced symptoms typical of CMD in cassava. Sequence comparisons showed the virus to be an isolate of Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV).

Screening cassava for resistance to cassava mosaic disease by grafting and whitefly inoculation
Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection, 2012Screening for cassava mosaic begomoviruses (CMBs)-resistance using grafting and whitefly inoculation was performed with local and improved cassava. The onset of symptom appearance and the evolution of Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) varied in function of genotypes and virus inoculation techniques used.
