Sensitivity analysis of cassava mosaic disease with saturation incidence rate model

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2023
Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) is caused by a virus transmitted by the whitefly. This disease can destroy cassava at any stage of its growth and it resulted in lower cassava yields.

Impact of host plant species and whitefly species on feeding behavior of Bemisia tabaci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Whiteflies of the Bemisia tabaci species complex are economically important pests of cassava. In Africa, they cause greatest damage through vectoring viruses responsible for cassava mosaic disease and cassava brown streak disease. Several cryptic species

Cassava mosaic geminiviruses associated with cassava mosaic disease in Rwanda

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pest Management, 2005
Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), and cassava mosaic geminiviruses (CMGs), were investigated in a country-wide survey conducted in six cassava-producing prefectures (administrative regions) of Rwanda in 2001. CMD occurred throughout the country at an average incidence of 30%. Incidence was highest in Kigali (44%) and lowest in Butare (11%).

Status of cassava mosaic begomoviruses in farmers’ fields in Ghana

open access: yesAIMS Agriculture and Food, 2017
A survey for cassava mosaic disease (CMD) was carried out in Ghana from 2007−2008 to determine the status of cassava mosaic begomoviruses in farmers’ fields. The survey covered cassava growing areas in five major cassava producing regions of Ghana.

Identification of peptidome-based biomarkers of cassava mosaic disease resistance in different cassava varieties. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep
Cassava, a major economic crop in Thailand, yielded over 3 million USD in exports in 2023. However, its production has been declining since 2021 due to cassava mosaic disease (CMD) outbreaks, which affect cassava plantations. CMD infections have recently increased due to the scarcity of healthy stems and CMD-resistant varieties, the latter being key to

Unsuccessful Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD) evaluation attempts in western Democratic Republic of Congo and implications with cassava root necrosis disease (CRND) etiology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Open Access ArticleCassava brown streak disease (CBSD) is the second most important virus disease after Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), infecting cassava (ManihotesculetaCrantz) in Africa. The disease is caused by two distinct viruses, Cassava brown streak

Mutations in DNA polymerase δ subunit 1 co-segregate with CMD2-type resistance to Cassava Mosaic Geminiviruses

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Cassava mosaic disease is caused by geminiviruses and suppresses cassava yields throughout the tropics. Here, the authors show that mutations in MePOLD1, encoding DNA polymerase δ subunit 1, co-segregate with CMD2, the major source of genetic resistance ...
