Mucocutaneous Disease Activity and Damage Accrual in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Analyses From the Asia‐Pacific Lupus Collaboration Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This research article aims to describe the prevalence, associations, and health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) impact of mucocutaneous features of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Data from the Asia‐Pacific Lupus Collaboration cohort were analyzed (2013–2021).

Discordance Between Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index Domain Weights and Their Association With Organ Damage Accrual

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Studies of damage accrual in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) show associations with disease activity measured by the SLE Disease Activity Index 2000 (SLEDAI‐2K), but these associations are imperfect. SLEDAI scores are powerfully influenced by weightings (1–8) assigned to each domain.

Compound Casting of Aluminum with Sheet Steel in 3D Sand Casting Using an Inductive Heating System

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Compound casting is a process in which a single component is made from two metallic materials, such as aluminum and steel. Solid-liquid bimetallic compounds can be produced by suitable process control.

The repair of foundry defects in steel castings using welding technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Use of welding technology for the repair of steel castings is particularly common in two areas. These include weld surfacing of protrusions that remained incomplete after casting, or filling the surface defects (cavities).

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Impact of Scrap Impurities on AlSi7Cu0.5Mg Alloy Flowability Using Established Testing Methods

open access: yesRecycling
In view of the increasing demand for secondary aluminum, which is intended to partially replace the very energy- and resource-intensive primary aluminum production, effective treatment methods can maintain the high quality level of light metal castings ...

Progress in twin roll casting of magnesium alloys: A review

open access: yes, 2020
Twin roll casting was commercialized for a strip production from ferrous and non-ferrous alloys in the 1950s; however, its application to magnesium has proven difficult and still creates major challenges. This report describes global efforts in expanding

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Texture weakening and ductility improvement of Mg-1.1Mn-0.5Al alloy via medium temperature-high reduction rolling: twinning variants selection and dynamic recrystallization mechanism

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The weakening of basal texture is beneficial to improve the formability and mechanical properties of deformed magnesium alloys. In this paper, the microstructure and texture evolution of single pass rolled Mg-1.1Mn-0.5Al alloys with various reduction of ...
