Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Residual stresses in castings produced by press die casting technology
The influence of technological parameters on residual stresses in pressure die castings is analysed in this paper. In order for the residual stresses to be as low as possible the optimization of technological parameters is necessary.

This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Computer simulation for prediction of thermal distortion of JIS ADC12 flat-shape die-casting
A computer simulation method to predict the thermal distortion value of a high-pressure die cast part was investigated. The evaluated product was a flat-shape JIS ADC12 part. The actual distortion value of the part was measured by an optical 3D digitizer

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Effect of cooling rate on corrosion resistance and behavior of micro-alloyed cast AZ91-Ca-Y alloy
Micro-alloying is an effective approach for improving the corrosion resistance of cast AZ91. However, the effect of micro-alloyed elements on corrosion resistance can be varied depending on the solidification rate influencing the diffusion and ...
