Evaluation of a heat flux sensor for spray cooling for the die casting processes
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2007During the die casting process, lubricants are sprayed in order to cool the dies and facilitate the ejection of the casting. In this paper, a new technique for measuring the heat flux during lubricant application is evaluated. Data from experiments conducted using water spray are first presented.

The Optimal Design of a Cooling System for a Die-Casting Die With a Free Form Surface
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2003This study is on the finite element and abductive network method application to die-casting dies with free-form surfaces. The study aims to find the optimal cooling system parameters and decrease in deformation of a die-casting die. In order to avoid the numerous influencing factors, the free-form surface of a die-casting die is created as a non-linear

Evaluation of Cooling Rate Effects on the Mechanical Properties of Die Cast Magnesium Alloy AM60
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2016With the increased application of magnesium high-pressure die castings (HPDC), it is necessary to better understand process-structure-mechanical properties. In the case of HPDC, ductility and yield strength strongly depend on porosity, grain size, and the skin thickness.

Characterisation of the spray cooling heat transfer involved in a high pressure die casting process
International Journal of Thermal Sciences, 2000Abstract A systematic experimental study was conducted to examine the heat transfer characteristics from the hot die surface to the water spray involved in high pressure die casting processes. Temperature and heat flux measurements were made locally in the spray field using a heater made from die material H-13 steel and with a surface diameter of 10 ...

Effect of die-casting cooling rate on the chemical conversion treatments of AZ91D magnesium alloy
International Journal of Cast Metals Research, 2016AbstractTemperature distribution of the thin-walled AZ91D magnesium components during die-casting process was simulated. The surface and cross-section microstructure investigations indicated that α-phase tended to grow up at the location with a low-cooling rate. Effect of die-casting cooling rate on the chemical conversion treatments of AZ91D magnesium
