Wildland–urban interface expansion: Towards comprehensive planning processes

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Wildland–urban interface (WUI) expansion is accelerating in numerous regions around the world due to increasing amenity‐led migration processes, defined as the movement of people seeking higher environmental quality. While WUI areas are complex social–ecological systems requiring holistic planning and management, they are usually approached ...

Impact of Organic and Inorganic Fillers on the Performance of Ternary Biodegradable Poly(Butylene Succinate‐Co‐Butylene Adipate), Poly(Butylene Adipate‐Co‐Terephthalate), and Poly(3‐Hydroxybutyrate‐Co‐3‐Hydroxyvalerate) Blends

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Development of a ternary blend composite based on PBAT/PBSA/PHVB with improved mechanical properties. ABSTRACT This study explores a ternary biodegradable blend of bio‐based poly(butylene succinate‐co‐adipate) (bio‐PBSA), poly(butylene adipate terephthalate) (PBAT), and poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV).

Using Lignin and Spent Coffee Grounds as Bio‐Additives in 3D‐Printable Poly Lactic Acid/Multi‐Walled Carbon Nanotube Composites for Advanced Electronic Applications

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Bio‐based additives derived from lignin and spent coffee grounds (SCG) are used to enhance MWCNT dispersion in PLA composites, enabling improved electrical conductivity and reliable in material extruded strain‐gauge sensors. ABSTRACT In this work, three bio‐based additives, lignin, spent coffee grounds (SCG), and oil extracted from SCG (Ox‐SCG) were ...

Global Anisotropies in Supernova Explosions and Pulsar Recoil

open access: yes, 2004
We show by two-dimensional and first three-dimensional simulations of neutrino-driven supernova explosions that low (l=1,2) modes can dominate the flow pattern in the convective postshock region on timescales of hundreds of milliseconds after core bounce.

Creating adjusted scores targeting mobility empowerment (CASTLE 2): Using response probabilities to expand interpretation of prosthetic limb users survey of mobility (PLUS‐M) scores for individuals with lower limb amputation

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Prosthetists and other rehabilitation specialists often need to identify which aspects of mobility should be prioritized in order to make meaningful changes in a patient's health outcomes. By comparing a patient's responses on the Prosthetic Limb Users Survey of Mobility (PLUS‐M) to predicted responses, clinicians can identify areas
