Relaxation of potential, flows, and density in the edge plasma of CASTOR tokamak [PDF]
Decay times of plasma flows and plasma profiles have been measured after a sudden biasing switch-off in experiments on the CASTOR tokamak. A biased electrode has been used to polarize the edge plasma. The edge plasma potential and flows have been characterized by means of Langmuir and Mach probes, the radiation was measured using an array of bolometers.

Measurement of the inelastic proton-proton cross section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV
A measurement of the inelastic proton-proton cross section at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV is presented. The analysis is performed using the CMS detector, in particular with information from forward calorimetry at pseudorapidities of 3 ...

Castor oil as a potential renewable resource for the production of functional materials
Castor oil is increasingly becoming an important bio-based raw material for industrial applications. The oil is non-edible and can be extracted from castor seeds from the castor plant belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae.

This study explores combining two existing aerospace titanium alloy powders, processing them via field‐assisted sintering technology and the subsequent discovery of a novel alloy composition, termed S23, with ultra‐high tensile toughness. Fine‐scale alpha precipitates favorably form in the alloy despite the relatively slow cooling, providing an ...

Distribution and biology of the ectoparasitic beaver beetle Platypsyllus castoris Ritsema in North America (Coleoptera: Leiodidae: Platypsyllinae) [PDF]
The distribution and biology of the beaver beetle, Platypsyllus castoris Ritsema, are summarized for North America. In light of the fact that the beetle uses two beaver species as hosts which have seemingly been separated for some five million years on ...

High‐performance nickel‐based superalloys are often not processible in additive manufacturing (AM) due to hot cracking. The findings in this manuscript propose an efficient method to mitigate cracking and enhance mechanical properties of these alloys by producing a metal matrix composite, contributing to the material and process perspective of the AM ...
