On the castor dynamic behavior

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 2010
Abstract In this paper, a model describing the castor three-dimensional dynamic behavior, is presented. A procedure, based on the Udwadia–Kalaba formulation has been implemented to write the castor non-linear motion equations. The model takes into account the flexural and lateral compliance of the castor frame and the phenomena related to the wheel ...

Castor Dynamic Investigation

International Review of Mechanical Engineering-IREME, 2013
Dynamic behaviour of vehicles having castored wheels can be affected by wheel shimmy phenomenon, that is a self-sustained vibration of the whole castor around the steering axis. This article presents a shimmy investigation conducted on a laboratory castor characterized by low lateral stiffness; numerical models show that this characteristics leads to ...

The allergen content of castor beans and castor pomace

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1960
AbstractThe allergen content of 10 varieties of decorticated, defatted castor beans, as determined by a serological method, ranged from 6.1 to 9.0%. This range of allergen content probably does not offer an encouraging prospect for the development of an allergen‐free castor bean by plant breeding. The allergen content of samples of commercial castor ...

Castor bean intoxication

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1990
We report the cases of a child who ingested two or more castor beans and two adults who each ingested four beans. All three patients developed severe gastroenteritis and recovered without sequelae after receiving IV fluids. The literature contains reports of 424 cases of castor bean intoxication.

Therapeutic potential of castor oil in managing blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eye

Clinical and experimental optometry, 2020
The multifactorial pathogenesis and interrelationship of blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eye disease poses challenges to any therapeutic approach. Current treatments are mostly palliative, with success limited by perceived inefficacy and

Castor bean poisoning

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 1986
Although the highly toxic nature of castor bean (Ricinus communis) is well recognized, reports of human toxicity in the English medical literature are scarce. The potentially lethal doses reported for children and adults are three beans and four to eight beans respectively.
