The LDH of the frequently asphyxiated beaver (Castor fiber)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976
Abstract 1. 1. The LDH enzyme from brain, heart and skeletal muscle of the european beaver has been characterized by total activity, isoenzyme pattern, and compared to the results obtained from the domestic sheep. 2. 2. The activity of the beaver heart and brain enzyme was significantly enhanced, as compared to the sheep.

Differentiation ofCastor fiber andCastor Canadensis by noninvasive molecular methods

Zoo Biology, 2000
The aim of the study was to develop a simple and reliable method for differentiation of the two phenotypic, very similar Eurasian and North American beavers. Hair bulbs were plucked as tissue samples from the fur of living animals. The mitochondrial cytochrome b locus was amplified by polymerase chain reaction and sequenced.

Beavers (Castor fiber and Castor canadensis), the founders of habitats and phytophages

Biology Bulletin Reviews, 2014
A review of the literature on the influence of beavers on the environment has been presented with regard to following aspects: (1) specific features of the ecology of beavers crucial for understanding their effects on the environment: (2) changes in the physical characteristics of habitats due to the activity of beavers (beavers as engineers); (3) the ...

La typologie des gîtes du Castor rhodanien, Castor fiber

Revue d'Écologie (La Terre et La Vie), 1984
The different types of shelters built by European beavers (Castor fiber) in the Rhone basin, between Lyon and Pierrelatte, are described. Natural holes present along the banks are often utilized at first. When such holes are not available, beavers dig their own burrows, provided that the soil substrate is hard enough, and the bank high enough ...

Histoire biogéographique du castor d’Europe, Castor fiber (Rodentia, Mammalia)

Mammalia, 1992
Summary. — The beaver appears at upper Miocene, then widespreads from west to east in the whole holarctic zone. It suffers a strong throw-back of its area, particularly because of hunting. At the beginning of the XXst century, there were only little populations left. These persist until now and serve to numerous reintroductions.

Bober (Castor fiber) v Sloveniji: Beaver (Castor fiber) in Slovenia:

2006

Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Scent Glands of the Beaver (Castor fiber)

Nature, 1946
I HAVE just found a short reference in the Bulletin Analytique to a preliminary note of P. G. Stevens1 on “American musk. II. A preliminary note on the scent glands of the beaver”, describing the isolation of benzene derivatives. I do not know if more detailed papers have been published since on that subject.
